St. Thomas High School Rugby {Portraits}

I don't know much about rugby. In fact, watching these guys play before the shoot, I was thoroughly confused as to what exactly was going on. But I do know that rugby guys are tough. Seriously tough. For instance, you would never guess from these photo that they were taken on the field with a 20 mile per hour wind with temperatures in the upper 30s.

These guys were great to work with, and so appreciative of me being there to shoot their portraits. I genuinely appreciate getting the opportunity to work with the young men at St. Thomas High School, and these guys were just plain awesome to shoot.

These are a few of my favorite shots from the evening.

St. Thomas High School Baseball {Portraits}

I was honored once again to be asked to shoot a few photos for St. Thomas High School athletics. This time it was baseball! The day was overcast and windy, but the baseball players at St. Thomas were great. They even suggested a few poses of their own!

St. Thomas HS Soccer {Portraits}

This is the final installment of the three-part athletic shoot I did last month or St. Thomas High School in Houston. I've previously showed you football (shot earlier in the summer), basketball and wrestling.

We finished the afternoon of shooting with portraits of the soccer team. I really enjoyed shooting the wrestling and basketball teams in their "natural habitat," so we headed outside to the soccer field. And that gave them a completely different feel than the other portraits in this series.

St. Thomas High School Basketball {Portraits}

Yesterday, in the process of posting portraits of St. Thomas wrestling I realized I hadn't actually posted the portraits of their basketball team - only the preview image that I processed to put in the fair.

So here are some of my favorite shots from the St. Thomas High School basketball portrait shoot. In addition to having them just stand for a portrait, I asked each of them to do an action shot, as well. I think that's going to be a standard request now, because I really like how some of those action shots came out.

Thanks again to St. Thomas High School athletics for giving me the opportunity to work with this great group of guys! We had a lot of fun shooting these - so much so, in fact, that it was hard to get them to do their "serious" poses.

St. Thomas HS Wrestling {Portraits}

A few weeks ago, I got the honor of shooting portraits for three mens' sports at St. Thomas High School in Houston - basketball, wrestling and soccer. As you might recall, we had previously done a promotional shoot for the football team and they wanted more in the same style. Yesterday I got to deliver the second batch - wrestling.

I've never shot wrestling before, but it was quite a lot of fun, especially when we asked the guys to get into their stance. It was fascinating to see how each wrestler had their own very unique style and stance.

I'm looking forward to doing a lot more of this kind of session in the future!

St. Thomas Basketball Preview {Portraits}

Yesterday I got the honor of again shooting some photos for St. Thomas High School athletics. I shot wrestling, basketball and soccer.  This was one shot, however that I knew as soon as I shot it would be among my favorites.  This is a preview of the shoot from yesterday.

St. Thomas High Varsity Football {Portraits}

St. Thomas High School in Houston got some new uniforms and wanted photos of some of the players in their new uniforms to send to Adidas. Kristi's brother happens to be a coach there and I was thrilled when he asked me to do it!

The guys were a lot of fun to shoot, and I think they enjoyed my goofy direction during the shoot: "stand like you're a super hero" and "okay, no put a stupid amount of weight on the bench press."

I'm really, really happy with the way their photos turned out. Thanks, Coach Clarkson, for giving me a shot! I hope these photos instill fear into the hearts of your opponents all season long!
